A unique aspect to University Technical Colleges is the strong partnership with local employers and a university partner.
Major employers working with the BTE Academy help support the innovative, hands-on form of learning that prepares students for real workplace situations.
The co-sponsors advise on the curriculum and give valuable insight through guest lectures. These industry partners support project-based learning by providing ‘real life’ scenarios and assessing students’ projects, they may provide mentors to inspire young people towards future careers. Co-sponsors also offer industry visits, access to specialist facilities, work experience, Apprenticeships and could handpick students for employment.

Sponsors GKN Aerospace and Airbus are major engineering employers in Bristol. By working with them, the Academy promotes an innovative, practical form of learning that prepares students for real workplace situations. The Academy is supported by Rolls-Royce.
A range of other employers are working with the BTE Academy from both large and small engineering, transport, computing and construction industries within the local area including Network Rail, Atkins Global and AstraZeneca.
University of the West of England (UWE)
UWE’s key role is to develop the Academy’s curriculum and vision, and to ensure that students can see a clear path into higher education. Students receive support and mentoring and access to specialist learning facilities.
