IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2021
Temporary suspension of admissions at Bristol Technology & Engineering Academy (BTEA) for September 2021
BTEA Directors have received approval to pause admissions into Years 10 and 12 at BTEA for the September 2021 intake, whilst plans to join The Olympus Academy Trust progress. This decision has been made in order to facilitate the smooth and successful integration of BTEA into the global Olympus Academy Trust curriculum offer and to align BTEA with Abbeywood Community School so that both establishments can be led and operate as a single organisation if BTEA joins Olympus. It is planned that admissions into Year 10 for specialist technical courses will resume in September 2022. Students who have applied for places at BTEA in Year 12 for September 2021 have been contacted, offered interviews and, where appropriate, offered places on their preferred specialist technical courses as Olympus Post 16 Partnership students, based at BTEA. Year 10 students who have applied for places at BTEA for September 2021 will need to remain with their current secondary school. We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause.
What BTE Academy graduates say:
Marvellous - now at Nottingham University
"I couldn't have achieved any of this without the support and help from every single teacher and staff at BTE Academy. I am really and truly going to miss everyone there and the school in general!"
Flynn - now at GKN Aerospace
"I am over the moon about my exam results. I have really enjoyed my time at BTEA, particularly because the BTEC Triple Engineering Level 3 course allowed me to gain practical and academic engineering skills and I have now secured an Apprenticeship with GKN Aerospace for the next 4 years. The College were really supportive and I had a great time. This was 2 years well spent!! Thank you :) "
Ewan - now at GKN Aerospace
Ben - now at Airbus
"I joined Airbus in 2016 on their higher apprenticeship scheme, following the completion of my A-Levels at BTEA. During my time at the Engineering Academy, I was provided with significant exposure to engineering firms in the area. This included tours of the main sites of companies like Airbus and GKN as well being able to take part in a year long project with Rolls Royce. These experiences piqued my interest in Aerospace engineering and helped to strengthen my application to the industry leaders when I began looking to start my career. "
Christina - now at Bath University
“I am very happy with my results! The four years that I have had at the academy have truly been very memorable. The academy and teachers have been so amazing and have helped me to find confidence in myself and my work. Thank you BTEA! I will definitely miss you. "
Callum - now at British Airways
"In my current role, I troubleshoot and repair aircraft under the supervision of a suitably qualified engineer. My UTC prepared me by giving me the knowledge and skills of being able to use multiple tools which I used in the workshop, and teaching me on safety aspects in the workplace. They also helped by teaching me how to use engineering drawings, something which is very commonly used in my workplace."
