What will I study?
Key Stage 4 - Years 10 and 11
The KS4 curriculum offers three specialist pathways in engineering, science-astronomy or sport, each pathway will combine an academic qualification together additional time to explore the subject in depth with the opportunity to take additional specialist qualifications.
All students will study the following core GCSEs - English Literature, English Language, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology along with the statatory courses of PE and Citizenship.
Students will experience a wide range of engineering topics including designing and manufacturing. They will both research and investigate the world of engineering and engineering products as well as having plenty of opportunities to manufacture their own products using a range of techniques and machinery.
Students will have the opportunity to develop their curiosity and enthusiasm for astronomy and to take an informed interest in current astronomical investigations, discoveries and space exploration. They will acquire knowledge and understanding of astronomy theory and practice and the skills needed to investigate a wide range of astronomy contexts. Students will also enhance their science studies and learn about different aspects of science, alongside their other science courses and progress to further and higher education courses in the fields of astronomy or physics.
Through practical participation and performance in a range of sports and exercise activities students will develop a wider understanding and appreciation of health-related fitness, sports and exercise through a selection of optional specialist units. The course encourages learners to develop their people, communication, planning and team-working skills. The Sport pathway will be delivered in partnership with SGS College and students will have access to the specialist staff and facilities at the SGS Wise Campus.
